Virtuosissime
Strozzi, Bembo, Settima & Francesca Caccini
at The Queen's House

The Queen's House, Greenwich, SE10 9NF. Tickets (£20-£45) are available from the Royal Museums Greenwich website here. This concert will be presented at 6:45pm and 8:30pm.

Musica Antica present music by four of the most celebrated female composers of their day - Barbara Strozzi, Antonia Bembo, Settima and Francesca Caccini - alongside music by the men who taught them: Giulio Caccini, Jacopo Peri, and Francesco Corbetta and Francesco Cavalli.

Remaining true to the way in which this music would have been performed in the seventeenth century, the majority of this programme will be sung self-accompanied, and all of it accompanied on instruments which were most commonly used in the intimate, domestic settings in which women performed secular music: the viol, theorbo and guitar, and pentagonal virginals.

Each concert will last 50 minutes.
